Year 10 Students Get Down to Business

St. Colm’s year 10 students recently took part in the Young Enterprise Northern Ireland ‘Project Business’ programme.

Andrew Briggs from Young Enterprise led the workshops to enable the students to explore a range of business concepts, including the role of the consumer, supply and demand, the market economy, and savings and investments.  An added ‘real life’ feature of the morning was provided by local Tesco employees, Karalyn Moore and Natalie Graham who described their roles at Tesco.

A highlight of the morning was when students set up their own mini jewellery businesses and battled against each other to produce, sell and trade their wares!  In addition to learning about business, students also got the opportunity to develop their skills in the areas of communication, teamwork, problem-solving and decision-making as well as personal financial capability.

A huge thanks to Andrew, Natalie and Karalyn!
